The Reigning Ms. Wheelchair

Kristin Durniok, 29, is from Pittsburgh, PA.
Kristin attended Edinboro University, where she graduated with a degree in Speech Communications. While at Edinboro, Kristin belonged to the Student Government Association as well as a social sorority. Kristin also attended Gannon University in Erie, where she graduated with her Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
Kristin’s work experience includes working for Centers for Independent Living in Erie in the capacity of Housing Coordinator and Independent Living Specialist. In this position, she assisted consumers with locating and acquiring affordable and accessible housing. Kristin also headed the Nursing Home Transition Program.
Currently,
Kristin is a Housing Coordinator for the Attendant Care Program at United
Cerebral Palsy of Pittsburgh. She
is also involved with the NHT Program and is often called upon to assist other
team members with their NHT consumers. Kristi’s
future goals include continuing to empower individuals with disabilities to live
independently and pursue their own hearts’ desire.
Kristin
enjoys spending time with friends and family.
She is actively involved with East Liberty Presbyterian Church.
Kristin has been very active in her reign so far. Some of her activities have included speaking at the Meadville Kiwanis Club, speaking to NEPACIL in honor of the 20th anniversary of the ADA, visiting the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh for crafts with the kids and working with the Westmoreland County chapter of Habitat for Humanity to design accessible housing.
