Danielle was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Pennsylvania 2019 in Erie on January 5th.
My name is Danielle DeAngelis. I’m 27 years old. I was born and raised in Jim Thorpe, PA, and graduated from Jim Thorpe Area High School in 2010. After high school, I attended Lehigh Carbon Community College, where I majored in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. My studies were cut short by a car accident that left me paralyzed from the waist down with a spinal cord injury. After years of battling depression and learning to accept my disability, I decided to become an esthetician and received my certification. I also decided to spend my time volunteering at Carenet, a Christian crisis pregnancy center, where I speak publicly about my life after injury. Despite life’s hardships, I hope to encourage others to not lose faith and to always keep smiling.
